Continuing Education Requirements for the State of Ohio

Requirements for license renewal for RNs and LPNs Advanced Practice: Approved Providers: Failure to meet requirements:

Continuing Education: 24 Contact Hours every 2 years.
Must include 1 Hour of laws/rules related to RN/LPN practice in Ohio.
All continuing education requirements may be obtained by Home Study.

Certified APNs must maintain national certification. Un-certified CNS must accrue at least 36 CE (24 for RN renewal + 12 additional CE in area of practice). Prescribing CNMs, CNPs, and CNS must also obtain pharmacology CE hours which are currently prorated. In the future the requirement will be 12 pharmacology hours every two years in addition to the 24 hours for RN renewal

 

Approval from other Boards of Nursing
NURSING EDUCATION OF AMERICA® is Accredited as a Provider of Continuing Education in Nursing by the American Nurses' Credentialing Center Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

HS 8038 is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing through approver Unit at the Health Alliance (OBN-007-92) Program #09-IS-02.

Board may consider licensee or certificate holder ineligible for renewal of the license or certificate to practice.
